The Apple Dumpling Gang

It's 4 a.m. and I haven't gone to bed yet.  And frankly I don't intend to start going to bed now.

By the time you read this I'll be leaving on a jet plane bound for . . .  The BIG APPLE!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

That's right, peeps.  My hub and I are going to make like the apple dumpling gang and blow this taco stand.  We're going to paint the town red.  Candy apple red.  And we're taking our two oldest kids with us (because I hate to paint alone).

First stop: NYC.  And then on to Washington D.C. where my kids will compete in the National History Day competition.

If my daughter's group breaks into the top twelve I'm going to take her social studies teacher's words--I'll have a heart attack and die if you make it past the school competition--and I'll bake them into a piping hot apple pie . . . and then I'll make her eat them.

For breakfast!  Lunch! And dinner!

Is that spiteful?

Anyway, that's why I've been celebrating Martha Martha Martha's birthday for 2 days straight on this blog.  I've been tending to all the details.

Details! Details! Details! Someone throw me a floatie because I'm drowning in DETAILS!

How many details does it take to screw in a golden delicious lightbulb?

A bazillion.  One to screw in the lightbulb in and 999,999 gazillion to start spreading the news . . .  that I  AM GOING TO NEW YORK CITY!!!!

(Nani nani boo boo!)

But I won't bore you with the details.

I had to eat a bowl of chicken curry at 3 a.m. and do yoga twice in order to stay awake to complete the finishing touches on the necessary details.

I must say it's the first time I've ever graded research papers with my eyes closed.

Research papers are like good books--you get so much more out of them when you use your imagination.

But I'm done.  Done with my spring class.  And I didn't even introduce you.

(Didn't want you to get too attached.)

Peeps, this is my class.  Class, this is my peeps.

I would marry them all if I could.

Except this one. I promised myself I'd never marry a man (again) that falls asleep while I'm talking.

Does this post even make sense at 4 a.m.?  I'm not even punchy or anything?

Anyone want some apple pie and ice cream?

Anyone?  Anyone?

Congratulations, Crash! Have a great time. Will you do me a favor??? Will you wave across the way towards New Jersey at my hubs? He's also leaving on a jet plane this afternoon and headed that way. I'll bet you can even give him a paint brush and he'll help you paint the town whatever color of red you want him to - 'cuz he's a giver like that. Have a great time...I'll be turning green over here in Ideeho.

Well, as long as you're connecting with other women's husbands, you should look mine up in NYC. He's been there since yesterday, although I don't think he's having anywhere near the good time you'll be having.

Have a great time! I adore D.C.

Never been to NYC. Kinda jealous. Hope it is fab. Take LOTS of pics so I can feel like I tagged along in your luggage. (But don't take lots of pictures of the inside of your luggage, pretend we cut eye holes or something so I can see all the sites too.)

wishing I was in NY this week... keep meaning to visit my Sis out there... but something about making sure the 5 kids at home have food and the house doesn't burn down stops me every time!

Enjoy - and I hope the competition goes well - for your daughter's sake AND for the rubbing her nose in it enjoyment that you will get from reporting said victory to the teach :)

Sniff sniff

Just think, I could have been there in DC with you had I been a judge at my daughters State Finals History Day competition :(

But you have yourself a great time. Don't think about little ole me being left behind - oh, and my daughter too ;-)

Be safe and have fun painting!!!!!

You've got a totally jealous reader here in Provo, UT. I want to go to New York!

Oh, and since when does yoga keep you awake? It seems that every time I do it, I'm out in 5 seconds flat.

Thanks a lot Crash...must you keep rubbing my nose in the fact that you're going to New York and D.C. after I've planned on going with my daughter but couldn't fork up the funds for myself? I thought you're my friend? LOL...J/K. But seriously, I'm a tad bit jealous that I wasn't able to go with my daughter and now you are going to be in New York at the same time she's there...I'm so green now. lol.

Luckily, I've been to New York..that big Apple...and D.C. so I'm good. So while you're in NY, do look up my daughter will ya? The Koolauloa Chorus will be leaving D.C. to go to New York sometime today after they stopped over in PA to check out the Liberty Bell. My daughter called yesterday and said they sang to Senator Akaka yesterday and today they will be going to the White House..before they head off to PA.

Good luck with your daughter and I hope she make it into the top twelve..I too would love to see her SS teacher eat every single words she said...in fact I'll help you bury her in those words, oh no, I'm not by any means spiteful at all...ahahha.

So, have fun Crash and "company".

WV says gleve...hmmmm, does that mean you'll be full of glee this eve?

Bon Voy Age or however the helk you spell that. Hope you have a fantabulous time. And yay are you going to see wicked with cute Alyson. Tell your Hi from me. I don't see her around much anymore. Hope she is OK. Best of luck to your daughter. It is fun when our kids help us say nani nani boo boo to educational people. I need to write a post about that. Some day.

Glad my dream to go to New York some day is coming true for you.

So I'm not an expert on New York, but I do know that the best soul food I've ever had outside of Louisiana was at Amy Ruth's in Harlem. Yum.

OH....MY.....GOSH!!! You are going to NYC!!! I am soooo jealous!! I knew this was coming, but I had blocked it from my mind. I ma jealous that you get to see Alyson. I am jealous that you are seeing a broadway show. And I will be MORE jealous if it is WICKED!!! Say it isn't so!

But if it is.....know that your "popular"ity around here will be missed.

Hope your daughter does well!

Give Alyson a HUGE squeeze for me!!

Swirl and I went to Hukilau Beach today. She must have said "this is so beautiful" and "we are so lucky we live here" and "man, what a nice day it is today" a bazillion times. I think it's because we are also both jealous that you got off this rock and got to go somewhere.

Good luck to the kids and tell Al that I did put the garbage can back so he doesn't need to worry.

My BYUH tennis class started today. Maybe I should snap some pics of them and put them on my blog. Nah, but you can.

I finally finished all of my stupid grading so I could get back to my life, which is all about your blog, and now you're LEAVING.
Come on. What kind of relationship IS this????
I am so jealous you are going to NY. I tried to make it happen. But it didn't. And now I'm jealous.
Eat lots of pizza for me. And hit up the MOMA. And skate around Central Park.
Please.

Martha, Happy Birthday. I'm sorry I'm late to the party. It's because I was tending to late students. I'd love to see your tennis students.
