Cute + Utarded = Cutarded

*Please exercise patience while reading this post, as there is nothing cutarded about it until the bitter end.

In the meantime, who wants to have a flashback? Raise your hand.

Moon boots. Remember them? From the 80's?

These moon boots belong to my MIL. She says they are classic.

I say she is classic. And so is her Need a Hug? Call 1-800-Grandma sweatshirt.

What a cutie patootie.

Here she is getting ready to snowboard down Rock Canyon park.  You go, grandma!

I guess she didn't read the sign.

None of us read the sign, actually. I never read signs or directions. Unless they're from the universe.

So today, Martha, once again, forced us at gunpoint to have FUN, FUN, FUN!

HOLY SNOWBOARD, BATMAN! Look at her daughter surf down this hill. You can tell she's used to having fun.

My kids aren't quite as used to it.

In fact, one of these boys is still not like the others.

You'd think we were at the beach. And at 40 degrees, it almost felt like we were. Seriously! It was so hot that we started playing strip sledding.  I don't know how many layers I removed before my hub gave me that oh-no-you-don't look.  It was so hot that I get hot flashes just looking at these photos.  Especially when I look at them while sitting in front of a roaring fire.

Can I tell you something personal? It was such a bee-U-tiful day that I think the universe might be in lub with me. Fo' real. You know how sometimes you just get a gut feeling about matters of the gut? Well I woke up this morning in such a joyful mood that I thought to myself (as I was dancing the tahitian in my kitchen while pouring myself a bowl of Corn Pops) something good is about to happen to me.

Mark my words, this is my lucky year.

Some people attempt to master The Secret, but I have been attempting to master The Ancient Chinese Secret.  And I think it's working for me.

But enough about my lub affair with the universe (and Asia). This post isn't about me.  It's about my kids and Martha and Martha's kids and our sledding extravaganza.

So without further ado, here are some highlights:

But first, Martha, can you please take that baby blanket off your head?

Thanks, that's mo' bettah!

Okay, now to the highlight reel.  Pump up the volume and buckle up for the ride:

Okay, now who wants to see something Utarded? Raise your hand.

Oh my.  How cute is that? But it gets even better.

In Hawaii people bring their couches to the beach when they camp. In Utah they bring their couches sledding.

It's called slouching.

How cute + Utarded is that? Not an insult if you think about it. Only Utah could be so creative with bad posture.

I think they should rename the state Cute-ah. Or hows about Cute-awww.

Ba dum bum

That is hillllarrioussss! Cutarded!
You are really somethin'
Looks like you were close to injuring yourselves several times.
You must remember that snow is hard. Sand is not hard.
Careful how ya land.
Try not to have so much fun so early in the year or you will run out of fun things and then what will you do by the time it gets to March?
There isn't much ocean or beach to get you through the tough times.
Happy New Year!

I'm pretty sure the "Ancient Chinese Secret" is Calgon laundry soap. So I can only assume that your faboo year is going to be connected to how white your whites are!

Those pictures are so great! My family is going to Mount Charleston tomorrow, which is the only place around Vegas where you can have that kind of fun. And I'm staying home and growing my brain back.

I love the slouuching- Utards have come up with a good one this time! My kids want to do this now.
I think Martha needs to come and visit me because I need to have some mandatory F.U.N.
I can't look at your boy in his t-shirt. It makes me sooooo cold!
Glad the universe is in lub with you-and I'm also glad your MIL is so darn CUTE! my bro in law has moon boots too and they are even covered in duct tape and he loves them more than anything and we all covet them. Cute-awww indeed!

p.s. please please tell me that the dork on the toy car biffed it? please!

p.p.s. that sign reminds me of the one at Waiamea saying how dangerous it could be to go jump off that rock. We ignore it too.

p.p.p.s. I love that your time thingy is still set on Hawaii time so no one can tell that it is actually 3 hours later than what it says so nobody can tell that I am sitting up at midnight amusing myself by continually posting on your blog. Thanks for that.
I had an all day party at my house and I am so exhausted but cannot sleep. what better way to amuse myself by making comments? hmmm maybe I will go find out what Farkle is all about-----toodles.

I have lived in Utah my whole life and I've never heard of or seen slouching.

It must be a Happy Valley thing.

Woohoo! Nothing like illegal slouching at Rock Canyon Park!

Slouching! Now that is classic :)

Great pictures, you grabbed some nice action shots. And Martha's hair is super cute! I've not seen a picture since she's had it cut so I had to hop over to her blog to see more of it :)

Love you daughter's red coat. Love the fact that DeNae is growing her brain back. I hope she posts a photographic how to post about that. I really need to know.

I was with ya till the couch sledding. I was even diggin' the Moon Boots! That was a flashback and a half.

But I don't about that couch sledding. That's Utah for ya though I suppose.

Did I tell you we are (almost positively) moving to Kentucky? Don't even get me started on the redneck jokes I can make there...

If you go couch sledding in Utah...you might just be a redneck.

I can't say it enough...I miss Cute-ah with all my heart.

One day... one day I'll make it back. *sniffle*

According to my nephew from Salt Lake it's called Scouching not slouching. But you were really close. Thanks for the cute hair comment Amanda because Crash made me take off my hat and it was all smashed down.

Thanks for entertaining us while we were here. We are so going to miss you guys.

Who the helk is Preshant and why is he copycatting Garden? Where is my verifier when I need it?

Hi LoW. I hope you do come to Cute-ah soon. And bring your sexy bald hub and all your cute kids. And stay with me, okay. We could do some serious blogging together. I could help you spy on Nolan.

Andrea, why are you moving again so soon. Kentucky. Ain't the place where they do the derby? My Jerusalem Center roomie lives there and she always says Shalom, Ya'll.

Nutty, I got that red coat at Macy's for $19. No lie. I'm with you on the growing your brain back thingie. Let's have DeNae do a workshop.

Amanda, have you met Martha? Did you know she gave that haircut to herself! I KNOW, right?

Sandi, Amen. I like Hawaii time too because then people don't know how late I have to stay up to get a post off. And the dork on the cute little car didn't biff it. He wasn't going fast enough to do any damage. Sorry.

And Sandi, did you just say toodles? OMGOSH! We are such soul mates.

So DeNae, thank you for the insight into my good fortune for the year. So glad my future will be bright! P.S. Did you grow your brain back?

Garden--I love that you said hillarious. Get it, HILLarious. Sledding.

Ba dum bum. You've got it, girl.

I don't have the beach to get through the hard times, but there's always prozac.

Oh Martha, slouching makes so much more sense. Why would it be called scouching? That's not cute at all.

But thanks for piping up and ruining my punch line.

And btw, your smashed down hair was way cuter than that baby blanket wrapped around your head.

We are so going to miss you guys too!! I walked out of my bathroom and Jimmy's/Wyatt's coat was lying on my bed and it kinda sucked the air out of the room. Ya get me?

Have a safe trip back.

I've not met Martha, yet. However, I feel like I know her...I hear stories of Martha-my in-laws really like her so they always bring back a Martha story or two.

I didn't know she did it herself...WOW! Looks awesome, Martha.

I guess people in Utah really have extra couches. I mean, is that a couch that goes back in their living rooms or do they keep this couch with their sports equipment? I heard a podcast once about a Utah girl whose family had a white leather couch in the basement where they were allowed to write on it with permanent marker. Or maybe in Hawaii we're couch frugral.
I was dying for moonboots in the 80s. My mom was boot frugral.
