The Contest is Over! The Contest is Over!

Thank goodness too because there is way too much cat-fighting going on in my comment box. But I have to admit, I'm going to miss all the traffic.  Please don't abandon me after we announce the winners.

So my movie night was disturbing. Not disturbing in a disturbing kind of way, but disturbing in a disturbing kind of way.   Most people hate being disturbed but I hate/love it.  Sometimes I even love/hate it and think it necessary for our eternal progression.  I want to tell you about it, but first I have to think of a way to share what disturbs me without disturbing you.  I will try.

But not today.

Today I will talk about Stake Conference.  We walked.   And we were late.  So we had to sit on the back side of the stage--behind the black divider curtain.  We couldn't see or hear the speakers but we had a great view of the congregation so we amused ourselves by playing little games like guess-who's-feeling-the-spirit and which-couples-look-the-most-alike-when-they're-sleeping.  We discovered that music teachers look the most alike when they're sleeping.

Other than that it was a real yawner because there were no apostles here this year.  (Just kidding!  It was super spiritual, even though there were no apostles there this year--sooo unfair Mary got the prophet and we only got the temple president.)

Remember I told you how my daughter was yakking my ear off about abortion and global warming on our way into town to buy half-priced sumo-wrestler wigs?  Well, guess what she was talking about yesterday on our way to a soccer game.  Trees.  I was really trying to get into it and participate.  She was telling me how trees breathe in Carbon Dioxide and breathe out Oxygen, and people breathe in Oxygen and breath out Carbon Dioxide so that's why we need each other so much.  Trees need people and people need trees.  I said "kinda like the law of attraction,"  and she gave me the eye roll and the head shake.

Then she was telling me how trees have a harder time breathing in Carbon Dioxide at higher elevations.  I said "So trees are more likely to be asthmatic at higher elevations?"  She shook her head and rolled both her eyes again.  "No" she said, "that's why the trees are smaller at higher elevations, because there are fewer people to breathe with."   So I asked her if that's why people in the desert are smaller and more asthmatic?

Then she handed me her Ipod and said, "Isn't this what dummies do in cars?"

Clever girl.

I'm entering a contest today!  Since Shelle entered mine with a funny chocolate story I thought I would enter hers with a funny chocolate story.    If I win, I'll be sewling cupcakes for everyone who votes for me.

Look out below for my entry.

(btw, I'm sleeping right now.  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

I thought it was a great and fun contest. Thanks for going to the effort of putting it on.

Abortion, global warming and trees. How old is this girl? HeHe, sounds like a democrate to me.

Congrats to the winners! And stake conference is a snooze fest without important apostles there.

So, that's the deal with trees, huh? I thought it was because the air was thinner and so everything gets smaller and that's why I shrink two inches every time I visit Utah.

Thanks for all your hard work on the contest, Dummy!

Didn't realize that trees are smaller at higher elevations. Is that why most of our trees are like 100 ft here at nearly sea-level? All the mysteries of the world to be explained to us by your young daugher! :-)

Yay for small trees and yay for writing contests (this was my first) and yay for smart teenagers who know more than their parents! Uh. wait... scratch that last... kids like that are downright annoying, especially boys who start into that attitude at 11 and also stop smiling.

"ingyper"

Haha gotta love kids. I am tired too. I think we need to have people give us prizes next time...lol. It was a ton of fun though.

I enjoyed your tip about bringing a tennis ball to Stake Conference.
Thanks but no thanks. A few weeks ago some of my boys brought a bottle of bubbles to church and blew bubbles over the heads of the congregation.

Thanks for the spooks and the laughs with the contest! I loved it. I was constantly watching over my shoulders and looking closer at all the shadows. Fun times. Can't wait for next year!

Can't wait for our Stake Conf in 2 weeks. Great ideas! :)

How mouthy.
I believe I remember her writing about how she was Miss Abnormal in the pageant of teenagedom. Not so, not so.
However, you could put away your dancing shoes for two seconds and be interested in trees. That breathe. At least she knows they're alive, which is more than some other students I have.

Talk about Mouthy. Look at you. Maybe you're rubbing off on her Mariko. Breathing trees are about as interesting as boat restoration.
