Make Someone Happy

I feel sorry for people who don't laugh. To me, everything is funny and laughing is the most exhilarating part of being alive, besides eating Cheetos and drinking Code Red Mountain Dew. And going to the movies. And reading--can't forget reading.

But you can do all that stuff while you're laughing.  Some people just don't get that.

Last night, for instance.  I was busting up all night long.  Partly because I always get giddy on Thursday nights knowing The Office is coming, but mostly because I put on season 1 of the original Get Smart series while I was making dinner.  (what do you mean?  Of course I feed my kids.)

Next to Spamalot and Nacho Libre, the original Get Smart is probably the funniest stinkin' show on the face of this planet.  My boy's friends and I were ROTFLOL, but my boys barely cracked a smile.

They must take after their dad.

Don't get me wrong, my husband and my boys laugh a lot, especially when they fart or burp or run naked through the house after a shower, or when they watch other people fart or burp or run naked through the house after a shower.

But sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with my husband.  He fell asleep during Nacho Libre which is absolutely inappropriate and unpardonable.  He scowled through The Simpsons Movie.   Dude!  What's not to like about ingeniously political and social satire performed by silly buffoon cartoons?

At least he likes The Office, I'll give him that, because his parents loathe it almost as much as they loathe Roseanne Bar.  Yet they can bust a gut over that perv Bob Hope and his overtly sexist banter.   Well, his dad can. His mom just giggles, shakes her head and says "Honest to Pete!"

I'm so excited for you guys to meet her.  In less than a month they will be here to spend 49 days with us.   It is such a kick to watch t.v. with them.  I'm not being sarcastic either.  The one time my husband busts out laughing is when we watch t.v. with his parents.  It's good ole' wholesome family fun at it's finest and I can't wait to share the fun with my readers and followers.

One thing you should know about me is I just love seeing people laugh and making people laugh and watching people laugh and hearing people laugh.

It makes me happy.

You know what else makes me happy?  My commenters.  This week my commenters made me especially happy.  My commenters are so sweet and mouthy and just plain witty.  Sometimes even downright hilarious.

Thanks for making my week happy, funny fans.

And thanks to my supportive brothers and to all my followers.  There's nothing like the rush of seeing you have a new follower.  It's enough to make you want to shout the V word at the top of your lungs.  (No, not Voldemort, silly.  Validation!)   Did you know validation can help fill your vast emotional voids?

I think I should start sending a box of Caramacs (chocolate/caramel covered macadamia nuts)  to my funniest commenter of the week.   But this week I can't decide between Alyson and Shelle.  They both made me equally happy.   Thanks Alyson and Shelle for spreading your sunshine around!  Email me your address and I'll send you some aloha!

I'm going to take the weekend off because I need to perform a baptism by soft scrub on my house.  (You may be able to find me lurking around with my rubber gloves at my sister site.)

LY everyone!  And MM!  (Miss Me!)

Have a great weekend.

Go make someone happy!  Go make just one someone happy!

P.S. And check out Swirl's birthday cake photos below.
P.P.S.  If you really want to see my face, btw, it ain't that hard to find on my book blog.  Just saying.

Okay, I don't know if it will make her happy, but I did incorporate "swirl" into my parts of speech test today, in honor of her birthday.
I can't believe 30 Rock didn't get a mention!

Well, I think your husband and I would get along smashingly...as I couldn't watch Nacho Libre, either. I quite often fall asleep and don't laugh during funny movies...unless my husband is beside me snorting and wetting himself from laughing so hard.

So I laugh, don't feel sorry for me...I just do it in my own way. I'm lucky to have a husband who balances me and it sounds like your husband is equally as lucky to have you to balance him (read: make fun of him for not getting it)

I still don't understand the whole cult, I mean, following thing. It sort of creepy me out. Not in a Crash Test Dummy way, in a David Koresh kind of way.

Mariko, for such a hoity toity English teacher, you are so sweet to include swirl in your parts of speech test.

Here's a mention of 30 Rock: 30 Rock Rocks!

Amanda, I really appreciate your perspective. It helps me realize there is nothing wrong with my husband after all. And now I understand why I annoy you so much. And why I annoy my husband so much. Maybe you should have your husband, Swirl's brother, read me instead, and you can cook for us while we poke fun of you. :) If he's anything like swirl, I'm sure I'll like him, unless he takes pictures of himself in your bathroom mirror.

Kristina, you are a great leader so you don't need to be a follower. But great leaders need followers. And you would have a bazillion followers if you ever decide to fill your David Karesh emotional voids.

Again...your husband is a sinner falling asleep during Nacho Libre like that! I'm appalled...

But I knew my twin didn't go TOO wrong with her choice in men if he likes the OFFICE...LOL...that is such a great show! :)I also get giddy on Thursday's because of it...that and HIP HOP...

And I definitely made you laugh the most...Alyson shouldn't even be in the running because the girl takes better pictures of leaves then I do...AND I'm your TWIN, which gives me the upperhand...

Just saying!

Also, Kristina P. You call people WHORE's and let people subscribe to you...following is just more out in the open...and a little MORE thrilling with the risk involved of your face on their site...

Word Verifier: RESSESS...that either means I need a Reese's or a RECESS? I'm going to have to check my Antartican Dictionary on that one.

Oh...and my CHIPMUNK CHEEK post...yea, I WASN'T fishing for compliments like I usually would, I was TOTALLY being honest...why can't people realize that HONESTY and TRUTH set me FREE?

Crazy!

But thanks for the compliment anyway! :)

Hello that was RIGHT on target with Kristina P. being a leader and the whole "can" be a follower...or needs followers...couldn't of put it better myself! :)

Have a good baptizing weekend!

I didn't laugh at The Office or 30 Rock last night, and yes I did watch them.
I used to live in the same ward as the writers and directors of Nacho Libre, so I think I deserve some of your chocolate.

All I can say is not only am I getting behind on my blog reading, I'm falling behind on my TV watching! The Tivo is piling up to a scary degree. What does it mean when you have to schedule time to watch your fave shows? What's the world coming to? (you have a pretty face).

Ouch, that Shelle can be vicious! Claws out! Rrrrr (I'm trying to do a cat fight sound, but don't know how to actually spell it. You should see me now doing it out loud and trying to figure out how to spell it phonically. Not so cute!)

Now see my reaction as opposed to her's: Wow, that Shelle sure is funny and deserves any prizes she gets!

See! I'm so much more gracious! Plus I'm your second favorite cousin (next to Emily, of course). You used to confide in me when we were little how you wished I were actually your twin and Shelle were you long-distance cousin. So sad.

Anyway, I'm much more gracious. Just saying...

Oh, and thanks for all the love! Just got to love that warm, sun-shiny, Hawaiian love!

LOVE The Office! LOVE 30 Rock too.

Can't wait to hear about the in-laws! Seriously, if I spent that much time with my MIL, I think suicide would look like a viable option.

I love that this post is about making someone happy, because... I GOT MY PRIZE IN THE MAIL TODAY!!! And let me tell you - you had me at the chocolate covered macadamian nuts. And my kids? TOTALLY impressed by that wad of fifty one dollar bills. How did you know I was planning a shopping trip today? Are CTD's psychic? Seriously.

And apparently you also have great stalker skills, because I have NO IDEA how the heck you got my address! Sneaky...in a very good, chocolate/cash kind of way.

LOVE YA FOREVER!!! (and you really did make my day:)

OHHH! Caramacs! They're my favorite! We just moved away from Hawaii a few months ago and we miss it! Thanks for letting me lurk on your blog! You're hilarious and I'm with you on the hearing people laugh and making people laugh thing. The rare moments that I crack someone up makes my day!!! Lucky for you, funniness comes easy! :o)

Word verification doodad: butter.
Maybe I'm supposed to butter you up so I can get some macademia nuts. Yum.
My friend will sit dead-pan faced through an entire funny movie and will say "that's funny." Doesn't eve crack a smile. Ditto with jokes. Weird friend.

oh it's loutter not butter. Nevermind.
