The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!

And it's not because my in-laws are coming tomorrow.

Remember this morning in my comment box when I said, The sky is falling!

What I meant to say was: The sky is falling! The sky is falling! and Rain Rain, GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, It's raining, it's pouring!
(but the old man isn't snoring (unless the old boat guy snores)) .

Today me and my whole town were seriously so busy getting seriously so flooded.

Two years ago we had rain for 40 days and 40 nights. NO JOKE! It's was Lame-O, with a capital O.

Today we had more flooding in 4 hours than we did in 40 days.

Can you hear the Twilight Zone music?

(Sandi, this post will show you why Kute Kasey won't be coming home with a tan. Slideshow on sidebar is for YOU, girlfriend.)

Here is the photographic evidence: (Not to rub it in your face, April, but this is what your sister has done to us.)

Note the aloha spirit, despite the dire circumstances. It goes to show that you can take the flood out of the aloha spirit, but you can't take the aloha spirit out of the flood.

OMG...that is really bad. I didn't realize how seriously you guys had it today? How is it now? You know all those years we lived over, it never that bad.
It looks like the kids had a good time boogie boarding.

That's crazy! I hope your house is on a hill!. And what fun pictures! I think the only pictures I might be able to manage if that were me would be sitting with my head in my hands and crying.
You're amazing!

You took some awesome photos, Crash!

I was about to tell you that we had a massive rain storm yesterday too. A lot of our schools were closed early yesterday and some are still closed today. I was going to say that maybe it was some weird, psychic, internet connection between us that made it happen for us at the same time on opposite sides of the country. BUT then I saw the pictures and yours was WAY worse! Holy cow!

Is your house ok? I'm assuming it must be if you're able to download pictures and connect to the internet, but let us know!

Thank goodness for the Aloha spirit!

Totally thought those were pictures you had pulled off the internet at first:) That's crazy!

As long as they're real life...who's the hottie in the third picture down? JK

I hope it doesn't get any worse.

Hmmmm, and here I thought Hawaii was "the" place to go in December because that's when the rain stopped. What's it doing in Maui? Because that's what really counts, right?

Sandi said...

Holy Cow! Kute Kasey was telling me how bad it was all day long, but I really didn't believe her..haha. That is crazy!! How on earth is there still an island there? I hope your house stayed dry and everything is okey dokey today. By the way, Martha has a very KUTE umbrella- don't give it back!

WOWIE... thatsalottawattah!

Whenever I see pics of flooding like this, I always wonder where the water goes?

Oh and I think it's time to drop the "poor Kute Kasey kan't get a tan because of the rain" bit. I saw her picture with the swirly kupkakes. She's already tan!!!

"eopoweaw" an expression of amazement at the flooding in poor Laie

Ohmyword. Is your home dry? Wow wow wow. I'll be praying for things to dry up quickly. And for you to still get your Maui getaway.

I'm with Barbaloot, I thought u had taken them off the internet! Way to show ur photographic skills even in icky circumstances.

When it rains it pours.. ha ha... ok, just I thought that was funny. My insensitive self coming out... Good luck and thank heavens for dryers!

Holy crap! That looks like so much fun!

Hey, and congrats on being picked for Nienie's blog book. I didn't know you submitted an entry but if I had I would have known you were a shoo in.

Holy crap... I can not believe those pics... Good luck in all of it...be safe. Seriously.

Unbelievable! Does everyone have flood insurance? Hope all works out okay for you and your town.
Again, congrats on the NieNie book entry. My daughter Sheriece was selected as well. I hope it all helps the Neilsen family.

Yikes! Thats a lot of water, makes you glad for the Noah promise probly. Looks like fun and way to make lemonade from lemons. I guess other kids get snow days, and you get flood days huh.
Congrats on you 50 comments yesterday and the nienie book. Can't wait to see what you wrote. Now I will have to buy the book, butr it is for a good cause so thats ok.
Maybe I will copy you and see if I can get 30 comments by making them myself.

HOLY MOLY! I didn't see you getting in on the action, though. Are you feeling depleted of the Aloha Spirit? Or maybe you were just busy being blog prepared (taking pics) to get in on the action. That is crazy!

So, when I come for my far off, long time away visit can you please order sunshine for me? I know that a flood can be just as fun (just check out all of the pics) but I am hoping for some serious play time in the sun and MAYBE coming home with more sun than I have seen in the last 30-odd years. I'll let you know, probably sometime around the year 2050 is when we'll be coming.

It's disgusting that people are in it. I was touching that water all morning and walking through it and now my hands and feet feel completely infected. SEWAGE! IN THE WATER! DEE-SGUS-TING!

OMGOSH! I totally forgot to tell you all that we are fine and didn't get flooded at all. I can't believe I made you worry like that. But there were so many people who had a traumatic day.

Thanks for worrying. Me and my town appreciate all of your concern. Also thanks for your sweet votes on MMB and for your sweet congrats on Nie Nie.

Sabra, how fun I get to share a few pages with your daughter. I can't wait to read everybodies hilarity. Hilarity really is the spice of life.

Sandi, good advice. I think I'll take it since I use Martha for everything else. April, that's her dirt bike in the slide show. Oh, and I put that photo of me and Martha in the slide show for Swirl's sake because I'm not all cute an touristy in it. I'm just wet. I just popped out of bed and I hadn't even brushed my teeth. (Ewww)

Funny Farmer, you're so right about Kute Kasey! I don't feel sorry for her. I was just saying that because the semester I came to BYUH as a single student it rained for a straight month before I went home for Christmas. I too went home without a tan and I grieved over that because I wanted to Nani Nani boo boo all my old high school friends.

Youngblood, I'll see what I can do, but I'll probably be dead in 2050.

Mariko, silly goose, take a SHOWER girlfriend. Did you house get flooded?

The kids are back in school today and the townlooks as if it just had a good cry.

Floods and tigers and bears! Follow the watery road. I'm glad you're dry!

OMGOSH! I feel so bad for calling Mariko a silly goose and asking her if she got flooded. Everyone go check her blog and give her a big blog hug.

Sorry I told you to take a shower!!!! I should have told you to take a bath.

LY Mariko!

Now I don't want anyone believing that I am giving Kasey one bit of pity, believe me, I am not. We always tell her that a cloudy, rainy boring day in Hawaii is a thousand times better than the best day here. She will be more tan than the rest of us no matter what. So was there really sewer in the water? yikes! I'm glad you are all okay and that your house is dry- whats the forecast???

I love that there are so many smiles! When we had our little flood (okay, it was pretty big, but not THIS big) a few years back I didn't see many smiles - just LOTS of mud. Way to go with the Aloha spirit!

Hopefully the "hottie" that Barbaloot is referring to is available - for her sake of course :)

Whew, I just came back from dropping the kids off @school. I took a little drive around Laie to see what how the damage. I see a lot of houses with carpets pulled out and stalked up in front of their houses.
Hey Deb, I checked out that area in your picture, Naniloa and Iosepa, wow, the road and everywhere near there is completely dry. Where did all that water go? Amazing! All day yesterday my little guys kept bugging me about playing in the water outside our house but I wouldn't let them. I guess I should be glad we were not anywhere near Naniloa and Iosepa yesterday.
Mariko, sorry you got flooded out. I would be totally cranky if I was in your shoes.
Thank goodness for the SUN that's out today.

Aquaspce said...

Oh boo!
We have crazy floods too...
(Um, I live in a place called High River)
But that's insane in the membrane... it looks like our "big Flood of '96" where in the river took an alternative route the town wasn't prepared for ie down main street and flooded out TONS of businesses. Here's hoping you and yours are safe!
And I was complaining about our -30 weather and the two feet plus of snow we're supposed to get.
Thanks for humbling me :)

Hopefully this isn't an omen but your word verifier says dedly
I think it means that's dedly cold on my end :)

Wow. That is stunning. I'd be twitching and flipping out, not kayaking. Seriously, what great attitudes.

Growing up in Louisiana, we flooded A LOT and I have paddled a canoe down my street more than once. Been wading in my driveway, too.

April said...

Oh my goodness!!!! I'm calling my sister right now to get the heck out of there for ALL of your sakes!!! How rude of her!! I hope everyone is able to get their homes back in order quickly. That stinks!! True story!

wv: panse....and you are definitley not one....going through that!!

Ok. So I sort of wished I lived there. Jealous in a big way!

I'm hoping you guys don't float away... thats some serious water over there!
