A convenient lie and an inconvenient truth

I was photo tagged by LoW, even though she knows I hate tags. I swear that girl loves to inconvenience me.

But today I'm happy to be inconvenienced because it's better than being gross, and my last post had everyone gagging (particularly Robin's husband.)

So I'll do your dumb tag, LoW, but only because I'm anxious to squelch the gag-a-thon ASAP!

I'm supposed to publish the 6th photo in the 6th folder.

The only problem is I don't believe in the number 6 (it's evil). If I have to go with evil numbers I pick 13. That's my favorite evil number.

So I'm publishing the 13th photo in the 13th folder.

And, Oh my goodness, what a evil stroke of luck! It just so happens to be a photo of David Archuleta with my daughter's friend, Josi, at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

I stole this photo off her Facebook profile a few weeks ago because I was steaming mad that I didn't get my own photo with him. I was planning to photoshop my face over Josi's face, but then I got tagged.

So UNFAIR! Sandi's daughter, Kute Kasey got to meet him at the PCC, and Martha's daughter saw him at the temple. Me? I got nothing but stolen photos.

(oh, and I didn't just steal this photo. I lied about it too. This wasn't photo number 13.)

Here's a question for you. (Who knows Crash best?) Throughout all 7 seasons of American Idol, I only picked up the phone and voted for one contestant. Who was it?

I'll send Caramacs to whoever gets it right. (And it wasn't Archie).

Now here's another tag. It's called Message from the Universe Tag. (I love these games).

Grab the closest book to you RIGHT NOW. Open it to page 13. Scroll down to line 13. What is your message from the Universe today?

Mine is from a book called Glass by Ellen Hopkins:

I told you then, the monster is a way of life, one it's difficult to leave behind no matter how hard you try.

Gulp!

Now that's an inconvenient truth!

Well, he's no Jack Johnson! His family lives in my friend's ward.

And I did this tag today too! I posted some pictures of ex-boyfriends.

I'm not sure the universe speaks to me. Line 13, pg 13 of "The city of Ember" says "Lina gaped at him. "You'd rather be in the" Hmmm?! not seeing a message there, unless it's telling me i'd rather be somewhere else, but I already knew that.

And the next line says "Pipeworks?". Just in case you couldn't stand the suspense.

Anjeny said...

Doesn't anybody play by the rules anymore? LOL

Ok, my guess on who you voted for was Jason Castro...ya mon!!

My book title: A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer.

13th line: "I watch the black dial turn as I get up and walk towards him, straining my whole body while trying to hear the phone ringing on the other end."

Oh yeah, what a lucky girl Josi is. I'm not sure I want to show this picture to my daughter Jen...she's a big fan, was voting for him the whole time and was really upset big time when Archie didn't win. When she found out about DA at PCC the day later, she was not too happy with the dad for not even mentioning esp. since he knew about it...LOL.

Anjeny said...

Woohoo, Kristina's first again, looks like she's claiming her spot back..eheheh.

Musings of the Mrs. said...

I agree with Kristina P. JJ is MUCH more dreamy.

Love the inconvenient truth. The book tag is pretty interesting. Sadly, all I have is a Star Magazine. Shall we see what it says...

Line 13 of page 13 "The Apprentice". Hmmm...interesting.

Barbaloot said...

Um...did you vote for Taylor Hicks?

And I can't do the book tag...the closest one is a phone book of sorts and that would be totally lame. Plus, like you really need the phone number to the Provo Court-right?

nevadanista said...

Hmmmm, did you vote for JPL?

13th line from Tales From The brothers Grimm:

"and her stepsisters laughed at her and changed her name to Cinderella."

That's a pretty heavy message from the universe!

TuTu's Bliss said...

"Professional & Courteous Factory Trained Technicians"

Message from the Universe brought to me via the Paradise yellow pages!

OR the closest "real" book...
"memories; I started half to rise,"
brough to me from E.E. Cummings

I'm sure you voted for Sanjaya... who wouldn't?

BTW- how sweet to thank me for the magic quilt button. You really care about your Peeps! I haven't found any magic fabric yet, but I will... I will!

Jami said...

Page 13, line 13: "And God blessed Noah and his sons," I don't think anyone wants the whole sentence but that's the entire 13th line.

My how I love you. I wouldn't do a 13 and 13 for just anyone you know.

*cough. wave*

Hey Crash, I've been stalking your blog since Iwa suggested your blog to me. And I must say I'm always entertained :o) Even with the 'gross' post.

Although I've read a few I never felt inclined to comment until now... and since I'm commenting I'm gonna follow you now publicly as well.

N-E-Wei... Just had to tell you that I work in the Seasider and the one day... ONE DAY... I was not at work David came in :o( My co-workers got to meet him and say hi... me I only got to hear about it.

I'm gonna guess that the person you called for was Clay Aiken.

Line 13 on page 13 of "The Colour of Magic" by Terry Pratchett: 'There's some chicken,' said Weasel. 'In exchange for a story.'

*sorry my comment is so long :| *

The Crash Test Dummy said...

My verifier say genses. That was for you Jami since you're the only one who has a Bible within close proximity from which you can bless us.

And I know how hard it was for you to do this tag, what with your aversion to evil lucky numbers, so MAHALO, girlfriend.

And YAY, I've got a new follower from my hometown, Lia from Laie. Welcome. Your message from the universe if my favorite so far. A chicken for a story. That's a tamn fair trade. A win/win.

But CLAY AIKEN???? Come on, Lia from Laie!!!!!!!!!

NO, it wasn't Clay Aiken. And no it wasn't Taylor Hicks, though I did like that dude, and my husband landed us on the front row at David Letterman because he looked like TH that day.

No, it wasn't JPL, or SANJAYA! COME ON! and who's Jason Castro?

Come on ladies, you can do it!! Think hard.

Nevada, I love your message from the universe. That goes along with my gross ghetto story perfectly. LY!

Oooh, I like yours too. Your universe is speaking poetically. Sometimes I have to strain my whole body while pretending not to listen to the phone.

Barb, I actually have been looking for the number for the Provo court. WOW! What a coincidence.

Sandi said...

I think you voted for Elliot Yamin...sigh he was my fav! or was it JPL because of spazzy mormon dance moves?
p.s. don't tell anyone but I liked him too.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Oh and YES, smdc I love my peeps.

And TuTu I like that message too. Hmmmmm. . . deep thoughts.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Okay, I liked JPL and his spazzy Mormon moves too. And I loved Elliot Yamin. I really loved him. And yet, I never voted for him.

Sandi said...

oops I guess I should read the comments before I guess something like JPL after 2 other peeps guessed him. Here's my 13th line- "I was lazying lazily reading a book on the veranda in the sunshine so I didn't hear it." (From the diary of Anne Frank) I am glad it was during the happy part of the book!

Sandi said...

hmmm...maybe it was Jasmine because she was from Hawaii?

Sandi said...

or Blake Lewis because he looked like an elf?
or Latoya London because she was awesome or Jennifer Hudson because they were mean to her...or Michael Johns because he was cute or Carli because she had a cute accent?

Sandi said...

did ya know I really like caramacs?

Sandi said...

noooooooo it was Chris Daughtry! cause we really like bald guys. or maybe thats just me

The Crash Test Dummy said...

oooh Sandi, I really want you to win the Caramacs, but nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.

ooooh I did like Chris Daughtry though. And still do. This person I haven't listened to since. Weird, huh?

The Crash Test Dummy said...

I really love your Anne Frank message. I love Anne Frank!!!!!!

Sandi said...

Anjeny said...

Who's Jason Castro? Come on Crash....he's the Bob Marley wanna be twin who sang Bradah Iz's Somewhere over the Rainbow. Maybe I am not guessing from the same season.

You didn't vote for David Cook, did you? I can't even remember all those kids' names.

Sandi!!!! Don't give up, if you keep going, you just might wear the dummy out then she'll blurt out the name. LOL

oh wow, I love ur wv for today...airksa, hmmmm, I think I might be traveling back to the islands again on this airline..that is if there is actually one that exist.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Oh YES, I LOVED Jason Castro. He was cute.

And Anjeny, you silly goose. Can't you see that Nevada already guessed correctly.

I am LoW said...

haha- I have so much to say. :-)

For one, misery loves company- if I get tagged, so should you.

For two, my Rae calls David Arch, her husband. She thinks they are married.

My guess in who you voted for- was it Brooke White? Or Bo Bice?

And the book is The Great Gatsby (just finished it about 1/2 hour ago), the line is- "but Tom interupted her by shifting heavily in his chair."

I am LoW said...

Oh Anjeny- I was a big big BIG fan of Castro!!!

If I was one for voting, I would have voted for him!

The Crash Test Dummy said...

ooooh, I LOVE the Great Gatsby. I did my senior project on him.

And did you SERIOUSLY GUESS Bo Bice without seeing the answer, soul sistah?

I loved Brooke White too!

I am LoW said...

I SAID BO BICE BEFORE I READ ALL THE COMMENTS!!!!!

You MUST know that!!

I LOOOOVED Bo Bice too! I bought his CD (the only AI person that I've bought the CD of) he had a great song on it.

I am LoW said...

AND I just read you asking if I guessed before reading it after yelling that I guess before reading! haha!

I am LoW said...

I'm if-y on The Great Gatsby. I just read it's #2 on the 100 Best Novels of the 20th Century according to Time and I'm having issue with it. I mean, it was good, but I am feeling a little bothered right now, and definitely questioning if it deserves #2???

I am LoW said...

Your word verifier is speaking English today!! Last time it said "roped" and now it reads "dishing"..

The Crash Test Dummy said...

The Great Gatsby #2?

No, I diagree. What about Hemingway--The Sun Also Rises? or George Elliot or Charles Dickens, David Copperfield. That's one of my all time favorites. Or Les Mis.

What was #1?

Anjeny said...

I guess that's what happens when one skipped reading all the other comments first. I was reading you and Sandi on my gmail and hopped right over to respond to your comment.

Yeah, Jason is a cutie...I voted for him and Brooke...I love his eyes, yikes, my kids think I'm a weirdo for actually thinking a way younger than me guy is cute...well, one who's not related to me of course..LOL.

I haven't read any insightful books like you two Crash and LoW so I can't really contribute anything. That book I happen to write the line from, my 14 year old son borrowed it from his teacher so I can read it, not that I asked him to which was sweet of him but I have yet to open that book up til today.

Way to motivate some reading Crash.

LiafromLaie said...

I'm going to blame my guess of Clay Aiken on my lack of knowledge. LOL.

Bo Bice... wow... would have never guessed him. WTG Nevada.

And the truth about my quote... I really would tell a story for a piece of chicken... a GOOD piece of chicken.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

ha ha Anjeny! It's good you don't retreat to your laundry room and read more. Someday!

I don't read much anymore. And I never finish anything I start.

And Lia, I would totally give you a piece of chicken for a GOOD story.

What a perfect team.

I am LoW said...

Here is the list-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Library_List_of_Best_20th-Century_Novels

I hear ya! I would have had The Grapes of Wrath before The Great Gatsby. And Catcher in the Rye. Even Gone With the Wind!!

I am LoW said...

Anjeny- if I read Crash's post, THEN all her comments, by the time I commented, the comments I would have read would have been outdated already!! Know what I mean? haha!!

I spoke to soon about the WV- which now reads 'ingeemi'.

Just SO said...

I would be steamed as well. And that is an inconvient truth! I'm liking that tag though.

val of the south said...

13/13 from A Walk On The Beach
"Where did you move from?"

That's my message? Maybe it's confirming that inspite of the snow - I really was supposed to move here!!

Fabulous news - I got my boot off yesterday!! My ankle is healing nicely - I do have to wear the boot in High Risk situations! Who knew there were high risk walking situations? (I guess snow, ice and rain are high risk)

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Yay for Val. HIGH FIVE!

And YAY for So, even though she didn't do anything. She just looks SO cool with those eerie eyes.

And thanks for the link, LOW!

val of the south said...

wv - bonis

Crash, you are a bonis in my life!

Thanks!

Martha said...

Since we're talking about Idol I gotta do a plug for a friend of mine. Next week Taylor Vaifanua will be on. She's 17 and we were neighbors in Samoa. She was in A's primary class and school class. Anyway she's really good so check her out. Plus, her sis plays bball for Dixie and she's super good.

I am LoW said...

Martha- I am horrible with names (don't know how you guys remember so many past AI peeps), but is the the really tall girl?

val of the south said...

wv - foryo

Martha - We really liked her so I will vote for her "for yo"!!

I'm haven't figured out if your wv is a convenient lie or an inconvenient truth!

val of the south said...

I'm haven't - interesting use of the English language...how about I haven't....

The Crash Test Dummy said...

ha ha Val. My verifier is probably both.

YAY MARTHA! I'm totally going to vote for Taylor.

The Songer said...

I would have said Carrie Underwood! but I saw that I have a loser answer! .. Bo Bice? Truthfully i dont remember who he is.. but i'll google him!

So My message from the Universe...

Wild Meat and The bully Burgers by Lois Ann Yamanaka

I hate math, especially fractions. I cannot reduce them, and today I cannot reduce 8/14.

The universe is telling me Im in the wrong major and that today I am dumb!

Anjeny said...

LOL Val..yes I love your use of the English words..eheheh.

LoW, I'm totally with ya. Crash's comment box is like a chatroom....
you can actually see these comments bouncing back and forth, it's like sitting in crowded room where everyone is talking at the same time that when I finally catch on to a tail of a topic, the conversation has moved on...LOL.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Ha ha ha Iwa. You silly goose. 8/14 = 4/7 = 2/3.5 = 1/1.75

Bo Bice lost to Carrie Underwood. I was totally mad at her.

Heidi said...

YOu voted for David Cook, right? Or no?

Sandi said...

HOLY MOLY how on earth did I forget Bo Bice? I loved him too! I think I named every other guy on the show EVER so I think you should still send me some caramacs because I'm pretty sure I got everyone's brains pumping. Yep I loved me some Bo Bice. I like Taylor V in the auditions so I will be hoping that she does well next week and that she is living up to everything that Martha's hubby taught her in SS all those years ago. She is soo tall and pretty! I just got back from seeing TAKEN. yikes! I am sending my 17 year old to Ireland in just a few weeks- why on earth did I go see this horrifying movie???? I am still biting my nails and wishing I was married to Liam Nieson!

Shelle-BlokThoughts said...

Okay...it was the other Utahn from Provo...the chick with the blonde hair who's name I can't even remember!

I want CARAMACS...did I get it right?

I love it that you used the 13th instead of the 6th! hahaha! But I loved that you just also threw up whatever photo you wanted...such a rebel you are!

Sandi said...

that would be carmen. I think Shelle should send me some caramacs or something

Melanie Jacobson said...

Ha! ha! The closest book to me was Brothers Karamazov, which was on top of Che Guevara and next to Computer Desgin patterns.

Check out my message from the universe: But he did love people; he lived all his life, it seemed, with complete faith in people, and yet no one ever considered him either naive or a simpleton. Must be talking about Alyosha.

Does that make me look all deep now and stuff?

Sandi said...

Wayy deeper than me, that's for sure.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

oooh Melanie, that is deep. AND profound.

And Sandi, I'm going to send you some Caramacs just because you didn't get it.

hee hee

J/K Sandi, I'm sending you Caramacs because I lub you and because I can and because Shelle can't and because you did narrow it down considerably for Nevada, who will also get Caramacs.

And LoW should too since she guessed it on the first try without looking.

That's cool your daughter is going to Ireland. Less Tampons for you to buy. Woohoo!

Sandi said...

just squirted diet coke all over the keyboard at the tampon comment. haha. If you MUST send the caramacs I will let you. But only if you must.

MakingChanges said...

You would think that because I live in Utah I would know Archie, but I don't! I even lived in Murray for almost 2 years and never met him. It's like the place is bigger than just 2 people.

I'd do the book thing, but the closest book is my BOfM and I totally don't want to out-spiritualize you tonight. How's that for a non-word?

WV- hyper- no joke. I am thinking it is sensing my excitement for my upcoming trip. Woohoo!

Jami said...

Uh-oh. I spritualized you all out. (Nice word YB4E.) Sorry. It really was the closest book. At least I didn't admonish you to all go out and get preggers.
