Serotonin Surprise

Yesterday Iwa asked me a really important question.

She wants to know what people who are non-functioning non-depressives should do if they don't have the cash or the unfortunate friends to land them a luxury hotel for the weekend.

I have the perfect solution--they can live vicariously through me.

I'm going to live vicariously through me too because now that I'm functioning again, I'm feeling depressed. (Are we only content when we're not cramming a gazillion things into our day?)

So let's live vicariously through me together.

Did you guys bring your sunscreen and your earphones because I'm ready to give you guys your present now.

Lather up and plug yourself in . . .

Now scroll to track 57, sit back, and get ready to chillax.

Hand me your brain.

(Don't worry, I'll be careful with it.)

Now close your eyes for your surprise.

No peeking.

Surprise!

I brought you some serotonin!

I hope you like it. I know February and March is the pits when it's cold and dark and dreary and drab. It used to throw me into a grand funk, anyway.

But wait there's more.

Do you want to take a dip in the pool? I think they mix the water with satin because it feels like you're swimming through silk.

Or we can fall asleep on the balcony together.

Or we can just stare into my son's deep blue eyes until we're in a hypnotic trance.

But first let's lay out and release the serotonin until our moods are elevated to sheer joy. (Or at least to near joy).

Which chair do you want?

Okay, no more talking for at least 20 minutes while we release the serotonin.

(Oh, you'll have to hit reply on track 57 about 25 times because it only lasts 40 seconds. My apologies for the inconvenience. I hope it doesn't mess with your mojo.)

p.s. what is mojo?

AAAA! I'm first.
it's a sign.

Mariko said...

Whew. Now that I got that outta the way, I can go back to using capitals correctly (See? I didn't have time to do that either).
Those eyes are aMAZEing. Where'd he get them?
Oh, and I can't believe you didn't get my attention at Foodland! I was lost in the candy. It happens more often than you'd think.

Mariko said...

Oh, and Lessing actually looked up mojo for us, because we had to nix "leggo my mojo" as our team motto. She thought it was spiritual power, but I grew up under the Austin Powers umbrella, and there's no way I'm going to ignore connotations here.

Shelle-BlokThoughts said...

You are SUCH a brat! honestly rubbing salt in the wound doesn't become you! :)

And your WV is also a brat SHORDIN...shores...beach...you get my drift!

Mojo (pronounced /ˈmoʊdʒoʊ/) is a term commonly encountered in the African-American folk belief called hoodoo. A mojo is a type of magic charm, often of red flannel cloth and tied with a drawstring, containing botanical, zoological, and/or mineral curios, petition papers, and the like. It is typically worn under clothing.

I always got mine workin'

I wasn't functional at all today btw...

I needed the beach today, because the weather has been overcast and rainy and I've been all stressed with my new job. (Don't tell anyone, but I really don't like it all that much either.) I am in a dilemma!

I will have to go back to the beach and think about what to do.

nevadanista said...

But I just love being non-depressive :) Oh, and thanks for the serotonin!

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Oh HOW RUDE, Shelle. Shelle and I are just about to get into our first fist fight.

Calling me a brat after i invited her to share my personal mini vay-cay. SO ungrateful for the t-shirt I brought her that says, "My twin went to Hawaii and all I got was this lousy Serotonin!"

Now Nevada was gracious enough to say thanks.

We'll have to wait and see what Lo, says.

And Shelle, it's no worse than when Old Boat Guy posted photos of his blizzard. That was pretty insensative, being that I haven't seen snow in 13 years. And when Alyson and Emily post photos of their Autumn splendor in every shade of fire red and orange while I'm sitting here in shades of blue and green.

Mariko, he's got his daddy's eyes. Mesmerizing, I know! That's how his father seduced me.

April, I'm so sad you don't love your job. Can't you just suck it up for the Free Hotel in NYC? For us? For the girls? For the OHANA?

J/K April. I was just practicing my guilt trips. I'm always unhappy at travel industry jobs for some reason. I've had my share.

This makes me angry and want to kill you.

Martha said...

I know who IWA is now. I talked to her yesterday. We are buddies now.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

OMGOODNESS!

Why does it make me want to laugh that Kristina wants to kill me? Is it the snuggi that caught me off guard? Should I be double bolting my doors? Should I buy a big dog?

What's uh, the dealio, angry girls?

Sandi said...

Look at you just acting all generous when really all you're doing is making us crazy that we can see our breath and you can see the ocean- and it's a warm, seductive ocean! auughh I'm in line to poke you in the eye!

Sandi said...

yep, listening to 57 and really want to hurt you.

springrose said...

I think everyone is haveing a want spring and the economy sucks tantrum! I personally loved the beach and the pool and the beautiful eyes! I just wish I could fly away to there! Even for 1 weekend, ok a week, or a month or however long I want!! I think everyone needs to put spring flowers on their blogs so they think sunshiney thougths! Soon we will all be wishing for cooler weather! I know I always do in August!!

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Okay, I'm sensing some hostility, even from my closest, dearest, bestest friends. Am I off on that?

Would it be inappropriate to say LY everyone? or GROUP HUG!

Ow! Stop poking me in the eye! OUCH! That hurts!

Back off!!!! I'm just trying to elevate your mood. Can you not transcend your petty jealousy!

DON'T HATE ME BECAUSE I'M WARM!!!

Notice Mariko and Martha weren't even phased by the photos.

Sandi said...

I am sitting here wrapped up in a quilt that is NOT a magic quilt, because my husband is a heater Nazi, eating Maui onion poore brother chips, looking at your pics, listening to the waves, TRYING to feel the serotonin- nope it's not working. I'm sure you had good intentions but it's just not working for me. It's been almost a year since I was there and I really need to go back!

springrose said...

Oh, I forgot, My hubbys name is not Jack but his middle name is Jay. Does that count? I think he's pretty cute too! Thank's for stopping by!

Sandi said...

Hmm...maybe I should rub it in that I have perfectly STRAIGHT hair??

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Ha ha ha ha Sandi, you're making my whole family laugh!

And not a nani nani boo boo kind of laugh.

Melanie Jacobson said...

Oh, I'm a freckle face so your kid and I should totally be in a freckle club. A blue-eyed freckle club. Not that the freckles are blue-eyed. I meant blue-eyed people.

Sandi said...

Oh so now you have the whole family mocking my misery!

Sandi said...

Hey Crash- when is the temple scheduled to reopen?

The Crash Test Dummy said...

SANDI!!! I said NOT in a nani nani book way. They're not laughing AT you they're laughing WITH you. You really should have your own blog. You're that funny!

And Melanie, you're a freckle face? I want to see. Show us your cute freckles!

My verifier says peteet. You guys are being petty about this whole serotonin thing.

Not judging, just saying.

Barbaloot said...

That looks so wonderful!!!
Thank you for always being so thoughtful and kind by letting us live vicariously through your awesome life:)

The Crash Test Dummy said...

No for another 18 months. Its so sad to see it all dark and dreary and neked.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

THANKS BARB! (for NOT wanting to rip my face off because I'm sharing my sunshine with you!!!!!!!!)

Sandi said...

Barb is sucking up. and peteet means I am petite--not petty, silly.

Sandi said...

auugh! how are we going to get KK married with that temple all nekkid?

Heidi said...

I'll bet I could pick your knees out of a line up any ol' time what with all the pics we have seen of them. Don't get my wrong, they are almost as hypnotic as your son's deep blue eyes. Thanks for the serotonin! When we lived in San Deigo, it was a lot like living in Hawaii (or I suspect that to be the case). It was great, like being on vacation all of the live long day, every day, every week, every month. (I actually got kind of tired of it but my husband still has a second family there and visits often--hence the need for the wonder bra) (Hey, you know I am so totally kidding, right?) (Sorry I'm so late to the party but I was busy with Guitar Hero and then I had to attend a book signing for Jamie Ford of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet--I thought it was dinner but it was just dessert and now I had best go off and find some food b/c that ganache was INTENSE!)

nevadanista said...

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I had a really bad hair day on my blog today that might make you feel better about your hair - even though your hair is actually fabulous and I have no idea why you would have it straightened Japanese style :)

The closest thing I've seen to a beach in the last 16 years was when a sprinkler on the side of our house broke, creating a huge, muddy pool of water every time we watered our grass.
And since it was on the side of our house, we didn't really notice it for several weeks, allowing it to leak into our basement causing severe water damage.

I haven't seen the sun for months, and my feet haven't been warm since September.
While your pictures are certainly lovely, and the wave sounds quite relaxing, it's just not the same since I'm sitting here freezing.

I'm still laughing at Kristina's comment.

You should come on over to my blog and play "Define that word verification code" I have the game every Wednesday.
Seriously, it's the least you could do after causing me extreme ocean envy.

val of the south said...

You seriously made me cry! I needed that seratonin fix today! I miss my beach, I miss my warm sun - waaaaaah -

Excuse me for the whining, but I'm all used up from tonights lovely cubscout Blue and Gold Banquet.

But I did manage to watch American Idol and can I just say Yea - Danny G. made it through!!

Thanks for the pictures and the waveage!

wv: parize

Thank you for the present, but what I really want is to win a parize!
(how about a one week all expenses paid visit to Crashland? - I'm in!)

val of the south said...

Oh, and thanks for taking my brain for a while - it really needed the rest! You are such a pal!

val of the south said...

Do you mind if I just hang here in the comments? I'm to tired to go to bed - and I hate it when that happens.

wv: imozomst
in my opinion zombies only mate sudden tanners (no spray on tan for me!)

It's officially time to go to bed.

robin said...

I'm so torn.... I was about to say thanks for the great pics of the beach and then I read all the comments about rubbing it in because you have the warmth where many of us are suffering terribly in the cold (as I type this I am wearing a t-shirt, long-sleeved shirt, jacket, jeans, and snuggled under a flannel and jean quilt).

So do I thank you or curse you??? hmmmm....

oh and congrats to Val of the South who got to go to the Blue and Gold... my son's Blue and Gold is tomorrow (I'll be sending my husband as I have a class to attend... he's not good at taking pics... this morning's Doughnuts with Dad event at school netted zero pics...thanks hubby!!!)

wv: expeace - when your husband doesn't take pictures at important events there is no peace

April said...

Can ya keep it down!...all this hostility is kind of interfering with the mojo of my figuring out what I'm going to do over here! GOSH!

April said...

Hey!!! It's my sister!! Hey Toad!!! Come sit by me!! That's what's wrong!! I haven't been able to talk to her all week either because of this stupid, freakin job!

I think my aura is all better now... I needed a little vicarious relaxation tonight since I spent a little too long waiting for the brakes to get not fixed today...

April said...

This ocean air is making my hair all limp and straight...what's up with that?

April said...

And I haven't had time to go to lunch with T and Shelle yet! GRRRR!!!

wv says quins....does that mean I have to come up with one more thing to say to make 5? ...done!

April said...

(I feel like Kritta...hahahahaha!!!)

Sandi said...

Hmm, have I been too harsh? maybe I should go have another look at the sunny beach and see if I can soak it in......

Sandi said...

April maybe you should take a vote about what to do....but it would probly just me you me and kritta voting..

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Oh this is so much fun all of us sitting here on the beach chatting like old times with our frizzy hair. Can you pass my Peenya Kowlada Jamba juice.

Sandi said...

sure crash, just let me crawl out of my humongous flannel quilt and take off my sheepskin gloves so I can hand it to you without spilling that $#%! thing!

The Crash Test Dummy said...

hee hee, Sandi. I mean ha ha ha ha ha.

I love your new swim suit!

Look at Miss Heidi's new suit. She's really showing off her girls. (Gotta read her latest post to get that! It's TMI).

Sandi said...

DAng...sorry I keep taking out my anger on you. It's not your fault that my dearly beloved and has put a ban on turning up the heater and everyone waited until 10:00 to get in the shower so theres no hot water left so I have to chat to myself in your comment box while I wait!

Sandi said...

Ohh I did see Miss Heidi's post about the wonder bra.I guess I'm going to have to get one!

Sandi said...

and since I'm rambling, may I just say AGAIN how much I love Mariko's pic- I always have to stare at it when I see it. And I'm also wondering if Swirl found suitable music for her homework- see I am feeling the love for the island gals even though I am jealous.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Poor Sandi!!!!! If I could warm you up I would. I did my best with these photos!

The Crash Test Dummy said...

I love her pic too. Doesn't it just make you smile your face off!

Sandi said...

I appreciate the effort REALLY I do! next time you want to rub it in, I could use pics of giovanni's garlic shrimp and a nice big shave ice and how about a pie from ted's? Wow it sounds like I might have a little food addiction or something.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

ha ha ha. I hear you.

For the record, YOU GUYS ALL OWN YOUR HOMES or can at least afford them. We're renting this piece of the beach.

(Did that make anyone feel better? More superior?) Oh and Shelle and Kristina, I don't have any cleavage! But do I tell you you're a brat because you do?

(Maybe I would if you took a photo of your cleavage and posted it in my face.)

(Maybe I am a brat!)

Sandi said...

Okay I am finally headed to bed. I sincerely hope that I don't come back here tomorrow to find pics of cleavage all over the place!

The Crash Test Dummy said...

ha ha ha ha. Sandi you're so dang funny! Even when you're cold.

g'night.

Jami said...

Oh. I like seasons. But Hawaii is pretty.

Kritta22 said...

Can I have the far chair on the right? I wanna sit next to Sandi and shelle the first round of Sherly Temples. Then you and April for the next.

Will you be embarrassed if I bring my big sunglasses?

Kritta22 said...

Seriously, if I buy a ticket to Hawaii...can Connor and I chill at your spread?

Kritta22 said...

We don't own our house either. But it's kinda hard to own a house in the military. People do it but with the housing market like it is, it would be hard to sell one we bought.

Kritta22 said...

I'm working on my family history to take to the temple this Friday morning so I'm going to have to keep this short tonight. I' really kinda excited about it.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Kritta, that is exciting. YAY!

I can't wait to see you at the beach. I actually want to see you. What do you look like? I think I'm going to go check you out on Facebook.

And yes, you and conner can stay at our spread. Just so you know, those photos . . . that ain't my spread.

Kritta22 said...

Oh I totally know that isn't your spread. That's the hotel, right?

I saw you were reading We are Ocean. Any good?

we are reading Book Thief this month for book club.

Kritta22 said...

I don't think you are going to find many pictures of me on facebook. I'm not a big posting of me, poster. I'm not too happy with my body right now. I'll let you know when I am!

Nutty Hamster Chick said...

Thanks for the seritonin, I need all I can get right now.

Kritta, yay for you, that is so awesome. I got the family history fever last year, but then the fever broke and I haven't touched it for a long while. Need to get back on that horse.

Someday.

So the serotonin was much needed...

After I admitted out loud to the world I was stuck in a funk... I spent the whole weekend doing all my homework and literally couldn’t stop, i went to town twice and the whole ride I read my physics manual back and forth, when i was packing my church bag on Sunday, I hesitated whither i should bring my educational psychology manual, cause i figured i could do some catch up after sacrament... (but my husband gave me the same long look that he gave me when i blew off our valentines date and handed him my laptop to watch a movie while I wrote my ENGL 315 Essay 2!)

So i left it at home and during the talks in sacrament, i played pigpen with sharyn!

I have spent the last cold days indoors spending every waking minute, writing, cooking, cleaning, reading, reading, and reading some more….taking advantage of all this anxiety to complete everything on my to do list! Going… going… going….

BTW.. I met Martha….. I’ve seen her around a lot and never knew who she was! She’s my pal… she hooked me up and got me into my class I’ve been wanting to get into for the last year!

Glad to live vicariously through you and your camera! anytime.... Ive actually also been wanting to experience Bali or Cairns... feel free to go whenever... Im game!

Just SO said...

I'll take the chair to the far left. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you. We had more snow here and very little sun. Bring on the serotonin.

I read this post while eating a chocolate doughnut. If everyone got a chocolate doughnut and reread this post while devouring the doughnut, they'd be totally okay with living through Crash's eyes.

Just sayin.

The only thing I am jealous of (well b/c I do have a beach 30 miles from my house) is Crash's legs.

Crash- I love your legs.

WV- perfec.... well, close enough to perfecT, wouldn't you say? :)

wv- nonest.

I AM being nonest!

Speaking of shaved ice!! One I saw a special on ice cream and they showed this shaved ice shack (type place) that served shaved ice mixed with ice cream and served it with beans on the bottom???

Anyone?!?! Anyone???

Been there? Heard of it? KNow what I am talking about???

I meant to say that the shaves ice with ice cream and sweetend beans.... that was all in Hawaii. Not sure which island though....

I can relate to IWA and getting looks from my hubby when I was going to BYU. I used to bump into people on campus because I would study as I walked. Now don't think less of me because I'm going to make a deep confession here .... I missed many devotionals because .... I studied instead of attending them. GASP!!!!

My hubby said I wasn't human when I was attending school. (he's right). I could have used some seratonin then. and some sleep.... and some chocolate.

MakingChanges said...

AAAAAHHHHH! I can feel the day is going to get better. The serotonin and the Prozac are working wonders today. Thanks for sharing your vaca with me!

MakingChanges said...

Oh, and if Kristina from PP is swimming I will probably skip on the swimming. You know her NY resolution to be naked more, she probably will be skinny dipping.

Sandi said...

What if Kristina P decides to swim in her blue snuggie instead? there will be little blue floaties all over the pool, ruining it for the rest of us. Oh and Low...I love the icecream in the shave ice- not the beans so much. I must say I am feeling a little guilty over the grief I gave Miss Crash over her loving offering of serotonin yesterday. I will take it in the spirit in which it was intended and try to soak it all up today!

I was needing a serious serotonin boost, so thanks!

I think I'm finally back in the blogging world, but I thought that before.

Hmmp Crash, I'm just dropping in to borrow your play list. I need to tackle some laundry today and I can't do it without music and I just love your mixed music choice..they seem to work with my mood.

Just thought I'd let you know in case you're wondering why I'm stalking you and not saying anything. I am trying to come up with something productive to keep busy inside the house so I don't have to go outside and see my gray house...eheheh.

BTW, April's funny bone is broken, she can really use some dummy right now.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Oh I just saw that her funny bone was broken.

I think we should all break our funny bones in order to show our compassion and sympathy (would that be empathy then?)

When you guys come down to the pool, everyone wear a sling on your funny bone. hee hee That will get April Laughing.

ALYSON, so happy to see you back! I've missed you.

Sandi, NO worries. I imagine I came across as a regular braggedy ann.

Lo, I can't believe you love my legs. You should see them close up, they're full of spider veins and blemishes and freckles and even the c-word. But thanks. And YES, it's Matsumotos shave ice here in Haleiwa. It's only 30 minutes from my house. Do you guys want me to vicariously take you there?

Or will you beat me up.

Iwa, good girl. And I'm glad you're pals with Martha now. I'm glad she hooked you up.

Hee hee YOUNGBLOOD. Guys, I don't think Youngblood realizes she's my follower of the week. How cute is that!

Anjeny, I can't wait to see your gray house. And I'm so glad you're using my playlist. I've been doing the same thing while I clean!

LY everyone!

nevadanista said...

I actually really did break my funny bone once - for reals - the tip of my radius at the elbow. Was NOT funny at all!

But really, it does sucketh when the other funny bone gets broken too...

And do you know how I've thought about it? About ice and ice cream and BEANS??? And how, for some reason, I thought it sounded GOOD???

Yes, PLEASE vicariously take me there! :)

Please.

wv- faries- I do believe the shaved ice/ice cream/ bean FARIES are watching over me.
